 Sassicaia

Founded in 1948 by Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, Tenuta San Guido is the birthplace of one of Italy’s most iconic wines, Sassicaia. Located in the Bolgheri region on the Tuscan coast, the estate is surrounded by ideal growing conditions, with a unique combination of soil, climate, and proximity to the sea. The name “Sassicaia” comes from the Italian word for “stony place,” a reference to the rocky, gravelly soil that gives the wine its distinctive character.

Tenuta San Guido produces around 250,000 bottles of Sassicaia annually, along with a smaller production of the second label, Guidalberto. Sassicaia, classified as an IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica), was the first wine to break the DOC/DOCG classification and pave the way for the Super Tuscan movement. Its Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc continues to receive global acclaim, setting a high standard for quality and innovation in the Bolgheri region. The estate remains one of the most prestigious in Tuscany and continues to be at the forefront of Italian winemaking.

Tignanello

Tignanello, produced by the esteemed Marchesi Antinori, is one of the most influential wines in the history of Tuscany and Italian winemaking. Created in 1971 by Antinori’s winemaker, Piero Antinori, Tignanello was among the first wines to break away from traditional Italian regulations by using non-native grapes, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, in a Sangiovese-dominated blend. Located in the heart of Chianti Classico, the Tignanello estate—Tenuta Tignanello—benefits from its unique terroir, with well-drained soil and a warm climate that help produce wines of exceptional depth and character.

Tignanello’s production is around 250,000 bottles annually, and the wine is classified as an IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) rather than DOCG, reflecting its bold departure from traditional Chianti blends. Tignanello’s legacy, alongside other Super Tuscans, helped revolutionize the global perception of Italian wine in the late 20th century. Today, it remains a benchmark for quality, representing the pioneering spirit of the Antinori family, and continues to be one of the most respected and sought-after wines in the world.

Masseto

Masseto is one of the most prestigious and sought-after wines in Tuscany, produced by the renowned Tenuta dell’Ornellaia in the Bolgheri region. The vineyard’s unique terroir, with its rich, clay-heavy soil, creates the perfect environment for cultivating Merlot, the grape variety that defines Masseto. First produced in 1986, Masseto quickly gained recognition for its exceptional quality, thanks to the vision of winemaker Axel Heinz and the team at Ornellaia, who sought to create a wine that could rival the best Bordeaux reds. Today, Masseto is considered a “Super Tuscan” legend, embodying the innovation and boldness of the region.

With an annual production of around 40,000 bottles, Masseto is an exclusive and highly coveted wine. Classified as IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica), it is made exclusively from Merlot, with careful attention to detail in every aspect of the winemaking process, from vineyard management to aging in French oak barrels. Masseto’s concentrated, opulent style and remarkable aging potential have earned it a reputation as one of the finest expressions of Merlot in the world, securing its place as a flagship wine of both Bolgheri and the broader Super Tuscan movement.
